Customer Pain Points addressed by WIT Solutions

CIOs and IT Executives of today are grappling with several challenges, these are exacerbated by the urgent need for digitalization with Industry 4.0 wave. These challenges are distracting CIOs from performing their core business, i.e. providing business value to the organizations and ICT strategic direction. No longer are CIOs and IT executives only keeping the “lights on”. More is expected of them.

Some challenges that are facing CIOs today include but are not limited to these:

  • Humongous amount of data and information, that needs to be deciphered to enable business to make informed decisions. Data protection has also become a headache for IT executives and CIOs (Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Security and protection)

  • Cybersecurity threats – threats to their core business systems and to the increase amount of data with digitalization and storage in the cloud (Cybersecurity, Cloud)

  • ICT skills are scarce and there is a huge scramble to attract and retain the resources. Organizations are competing amongst each other for the scarce resources

  • It takes on average over 6 months to identify and recruit skilled IT resources, this is time taken from their core business

  • When recruited organizations must pay 30% premium to retain them (high costs)

  • SA Education system lagging behind to 4IR requirements

  • Brain Drain – Emigration

  • Lack diversity of resources, in term of gender, religion, age, background, etc. (diverse resource pools)

  • IT skills high turn over

The Industry 4.0 wave has rendered the need for Next Gen IT resources in terms of Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI),
Robotics, Data Scientists. According to Gartner data, “about two-thirds of business leaders think their companies need to
speed up their digital transformation or face losing ground to competitors”. It is no longer a nice to have, but a MUST do.

IT projects that take forever to complete with budget overruns. The IT world is moving at a fast pace and organizations
need to adopt more agile/iterative methods in project implementations (quick to market is the new name of the game).
Gone are the days where organizations applied the traditional waterfall methods in project implementations and deliv- ery.
Focus is now on a more collaborative approach that drives quicker delivery and continuous learning. (Agile Project Managers,
Agile Business Analysts, Agile Testers, Agile Architects, etc)

They still need to keep the lights on and keep the IT infrastructure supported and maintained, users able to operate on a
day to day basis (Support engineers, systems engineers, network engineers
